The Ascend Fund is committed to expanding women's political leadership in the U.S.

Across the country, women face steep barriers to running for office and winning — the cost of campaigns, safety concerns, lack of childcare, and weak support networks. For women of color these challenges are especially acute.

We're changing that by building a future where every woman has the opportunity, confidence, and support to step into public service and thrive. When women lead, our democracy becomes more inclusive, responsive, and just.

When women and other historically marginalized people win elections, they:

• Change the agenda and are more likely to prioritize legislation that centers solutions from marginalized communities, benefiting society as a whole.
• Govern differently by building coalitions, working across the aisle, and reaching compromise on divisive issues.
• Disrupt systems and normalize women's leadership, which positively affect the political ambitions of younger women and women of color.
